My chat with Alys.
I’d been wanting to connect with Alys Hale (the writer), after reading her article ‘Mind Meets Body’ (Russh Magazine June/July ‘18). I did some digging (erm, stalking), and quickly discovered that among being a stellar wordsmith, she is also one of Australia’s premier fashion models with IMG Australia. And just quietly, she once body-doubled for Kate Moss.
“I’d love to shoot with you sometime”, sounded a lot better in my mind than “I’d like to talk to you about your words”.
One smooth (business-oriented) slide into her DMs + an email to her booker; our photo date was set.

The location is the home of my similarly good friend and fellow photographer, James Lanchester (those are his kids, below). We all love to travel, and we all love creating amazing pictures. We connected on Instagram over a year ago. Valentina is an Australian Makeup Artist of the year finalist 2017, and a good friend. The location is the home of my similarly good friend and fellow photographer, James Lanchester (those are his kids, below). We all love to travel, and we all love creating amazing pictures. If you're into gear, I'm a Nikon shooter. For this I used a Nikon D810, 85mm 1.4, 50mm 1.8, 2 x Profoto B2s, Photek Softlighter 60", MacBook Pro 15", CaptureOne, Lightroom & Photoshop (all used in my workflow at some point).
