Behind the scenes

A little glimpse into what goes into creating our pictures | Annie is a top International Model (with IMG) visiting Australia [she's also in competition with her boyfriend to see who can visit all of the continents first]. We connected on Instagram over a year ago. Valentina is an Australian Makeup Artist of the year finalist 2017, and a good friend. The location is the home of my similarly good friend and fellow photographer, James Lanchester (those are his kids, below). We all love to travel, and we all love creating amazing pictures. If you're into gear, I'm a Nikon shooter. For this I used a Nikon D810, 85mm 1.4, 50mm 1.8, 2 x Profoto B2s, Photek Softlighter 60", MacBook Pro 15", CaptureOne, Lightroom & Photoshop (all used in my workflow at some point). Miami Swim '17

[Cover Model: Joy Corrigan] While traveling though the US, one of my clients invited me to come visit them at Miami Swim ’17. As it turns out, one of my good friends Michelle Bagarra was also in town walking for some of the shows, and so we got to have a few adventures [including Michelle having to bunk with me for a couple of nights after her air bnb was overrun by an irate local, and the police having to be called etc etc, ha!] - Welcome to Miami!

Runway at the W Hotel

For those that don’t know, Miami Swim is annual the industry event for swim and resort - effectively where swim-resort designers and buyers go to meet. It was my first time attending, and to be honest, it’s a bit had to navigate - with I’m guessing at least 3 PR major companies organizing competing shows (that you can’t really attend back to back as they are at different venues. I even missed one show because I couldn’t find the tent. With that said, I had a great time, and everyone is really nice and friendly - and super laid back.

If you’re a brand or photographer, it’s a great place to cast for talent and shoot, as everyone is in a very small radius, and agency models are everywhere. The beach is close, and Uber pool is just $2 to almost everywhere. I met most of the models that I connected with, either at the shows or walking around with Michelle while she attended castings.
